Anita Reynolds
Anita works from her South Devon studio and divides her time between her art practice and teaching. Her fascination with islands started with frequent visits to Lundy Island and she was first offered a residency on St. Mary’s to inform a body of work for Tamarisk Gallery in 2018. She has visited several times since and favours the autumn and winter months as the colours and temperament of her work suit the colder seasons. Her links with Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are becoming stronger since she became a visiting tutor at The Newlyn School of Art and now regularly teaches visiting students on the island of Tresco.
Anita tends to visit locations and make sketches in the field before returning to her studio and using her drawings to inform her dynamic, semi-abstracted monotypes. These are one-off, original hand pulled prints which are sent through her printing press many times to build up layers of colour and visual interest.
