Amelie Elphick
Amelie (Millie) Elphick, the daughter of Tracey Elphick, is a young textile artist from Cirencester, Gloucestershire but has family living on St Agnes in Scilly and works during the summer at Troytown Farm. She completed her Art Foundation in Stroud where she specialised in textiles and will begin an undergraduate degree in Creative Arts Practice this September at Bath Spa University.
Amelie began making and selling appliqué textile pieces on Instagram during the lockdown and has been developing them ever since. They’re inspired by the concept of iconic and recognisable imagery which for the Isles of Scilly means items such as gigs and ice cream pots. She also favours classic condiment designs such as Heinz and Marmite. Amelie uses recycled scraps and off cuts of materials in an attempt to reduce textile waste and produce work sustainably.
