Russell Martin
Russell Martin studied illustration at Portsmouth and spent several years illustrating children's books. He also taught art for a number of years alongside painting and making lino prints. He now uses the skills and experience he learned to inform his new work - sgraffito pots. Sgraffito is a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of contrasting colour, in this case in ceramic before it is fired.
Russell Martin is inspired by the rugged beauty and folklore of Cornwall where he lives with his family.
