Anita Reynolds works from her South Devon studio and divides her time between printmaking and painting. Her links with Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly have become stronger since she became a visiting tutor at The Newlyn School of Art. She shows her dynamic monoprints at Tamarisk Gallery. These are one-off, original, hand-pulled prints made on her printing press.
Anita is known for experimenting widely with techniques, materials and processes and her mark making and style has grown and developed over the years. Anita likes to work on location and has visited Scilly several times to teach both painting and printmaking.
This monotype was created by building up layers of ink and sending the paper through the press multiple times to create this one off artwork. It is a view of the beach on Samson where the boats land on calm days. It features the rugged coastline of the uninhabited island, and the familiar tide marks left on the beach by the sea.
