Erica Hicks
Born into a family where creativity was not just a hobby but a way of life, Erica Hicks inherited a passion for originality from her glass artist mother, Oriel Hicks and an attention to detail from her pen and ink and watercolour artist father, Steve Hicks.
After growing up on Scilly, training in Product Design and spending time in the design industry and in education, Erica returned permanently to the islands over ten years ago and is currently using her tools and press to experiment in printmaking. Drawn to the tactile nature of lino and the endless possibilities it offers, she tends to favour this medium but also experiments with collograph and screen printing.
Erica’s printmaking style is characterised by its boldness and design-led approach. She likes to tell a story of the islands where she grew up and capture elements of the place she is proud to call home.
