Painting featuring Instow, North Devon. Hester Berry grew up in rural Devon and now lives and works in her home county.
Her practice is rooted in traditional representation and she explores ways paint can portray effects such as light, time, movement and climate. Hester uses the marks available to her as economically as possible, distilling the image, feeling or moment into what is necessary, so that through objective depiction there is enough room for subjective interpretation.
