This diving gannet sculpture is created by local glass artist, Oriel Hicks. Oriel fuses the glass shards and ‘frit’ together and mounts her work in a wooden base, made by woodworker Stuart Mackin.
Oriel has worked with glass as a medium for thirty years and is inspired by the unique light, colour and natural environment of her island home. She experiments with many different techniques and processes including Tiffany, traditional leaded lights, etching and fused glass and her work is constantly evolving.
Each sculpture is individually handmade so there may be differences between the one created and the image shown. Please allow a few days for the gannet to be specially made.
