View from the rarely visited north end of St Mary's, looking out to sea through the pines.
Imogen Bone is a contemporary impressionist painter based in Cornwall. Originally from Scotland, Imogen studied at Falmouth School of Art before settling on St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly for ten years where she worked out of her studio at Phoenix Crafts. Imogen usually starts a piece of work by going out on a walk and sketching the view, inevitably a coastline, before heading back to her studio to work on a final piece. When looking at a painting, she likes the viewer to feel as though they have walked along the path with her. She is eternally inspired by the changing landscape; the summer colours of the coast as much as the dramatic, stormy skies of winter. She also studied for an MA in Art and the Environment and through her work, likes to communicate the ever-changing nature and fragility of her Cornish home.
