This highly original Agapanthus glass light box was created locally by glass artist Oriel Hicks. It comprises fused glass, glass etching, a frame and an LED light source.
The way the light box is lit at the edge with small LED lights makes the etching really 'pop'. The background features a fused glass design of Agapanthus inspired by the many flowers found here on Scilly.
Oriel Hicks has worked with glass as a medium for thirty years and is inspired by the unique light, colour and natural environment of her island home. She experiments with many different techniques and processes including Tiffany, traditional leaded lights, etching and fused glass and her work is constantly evolving.
